CivilCorp, LLC gave City Council a preliminary engineering report for Nile Valley Road from SH 60 to SH 35 with detailed costs for construction. For example, option 3B would cost close to an estimated $4 million. The estimated cost includes $2,642,321.39 for materials, $1,000,450.00 for bridge and roadway improvements (upgrade bridge rails, correct embankment slopes, signs, etc), and an estimated $300,000 for engineering.
The Bay City Gas Company has a three member Board of Trustees, of which two members are lifetime appointees and the third member is the Mayor of Bay City. The Board of Trustees Chairman recently appointed the lifetime appointee member position that has been vacant.
City Council unanimously passed a Resolution opposing the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to add Matagorda County to nonattainment status.
City Council unanimously approved retaining Denton, Navarro, Rocha and Bernal, P.C., a full-service municipal law firm to represent the City of Bay City, Texas as special legal counsel pursuant to the general grant of authority contained in Section 8.01 of the Bay City Charter.
Merlin Street between Avenue G and Avenue H will be changed from a one-way traffic to two-way traffic.
Approximately 13 youth directors in Bay City were looking for ways they can serve the community and the Bay City Youth Workers Network was given unanimous approval to participate in rehab projects at the Bay City Community Park. The City of Bay City will provide needed materials to City approved projects at Bay City Community Park. The projects will instill pride in our youth of Bay City. After all, the youth of Bay City are the future leaders of Bay City. Saturday February 4, at 9:00am, the Bay City Youth Workers Network will get started at Bay City Community Park.
The presentation and training session on permissible projects of Type B Corporations, the Texas Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act by Ms. Zindia Thomas, Assistant Attorney General of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Texas was very informative. The City of Bay City Council Members and Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) were present and were advised that the BCCDC may not provide monies to the Bay City Public Library. Other Corporate requirements of the Type B Sales Tax were discussed along with Open Meetings and Public Information requirements.
At the last City Council meeting, a Council Member volunteered to meet with representatives of Matagorda County & Bay City Public Library to discuss options for the Library.
