Traffic stop

On Friday, Jan. 27 deputy conducted a traffic stop in Blessing. Deputy made contact with the driver and discovered the driver had three outstanding warrants out of the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office for theft by check. Driver was placed into custody and transported to the Matagorda County Jail for booking.

Structure Fire

On Friday, Jan. 27 deputy was dispatched to Markham in reference to a structure fire. Upon making location the front of the wood frame house and the area inside the front door was engulfed with flames. Markham, Bay City and Midfield fire department were on location attempting to put out the fire. Deputy spoke to fire official in charge who stated all seven occupants were out of the residence and accounted for. One resident was treated for minor burns to the left arm and transported by EMS. Resident told deputy the home owner lived in Brenham and would need to be contacted.

Open door

On Saturday, Jan. 28 deputy was dispatched to Bay City in reference to the complainant locating an open door at her vacant mobile home. The scene of this offense was at a white single family mobile home adjacent to the complainant residence. Upon arriving at the location deputy met with complainant who stated someone had broken into her mobile home and stole some items. Complainant said she walked in to the mobile home and found no one in the home. She said it appeared that someone was messing with front door, lock and broke it. She said that the last time she was at the home was 3 weeks ago and she had to repair the front door lock after someone entered the home.
